Office Assistants - County Fair

Laramie County Fair is currently seeking two summer office assistants. These positions report to the Office Manager and Fair Manager. Main responsibilities include providing clerical support to the Office Manager, coordinating of Facebook, Twitter and laramiecountyfair.com updates, assisting with booking of facilities at Laramie County Fairgrounds and attending the Laramie County Fair to provide assistance with customer relations and processing of show reports, results and awards. Position: Temporary Laborer

Department:  Public Works

Hiring Pay: $10.74/hour

The position is responsible for providing additional support for the Public Works staff during the Summer Season. Laborers are responsible for operating mowing equipment for roadsides, parks & grounds and governmental complexes, operating paving equipment and other manual tasks as assigned. Public Works operates on a 4 day schedule that includes Monday-Thursday, Wednesday-Saturday or Thursday-Sunday for 10 hours each day.
Applicants must be 18 years or older in order to be considered. Applicants must also have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. 


Position:              Customer Service Representative/Range Safety Officer          

Department:       Laramie County Shooting Sports Complex

Pay Range:         $7.25/hour, plus Range usage

This position provides customer support for the Shooting Sports Complex while supervising safe shooting activities and range operations. This support includes answering phones, greeting customers and accurately collecting payments for goods and services. This position will also be responsible for maintaining safety on the range by enforcing Range rules and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Qualified candidates must have a H.S. diploma (or equivalent) and one year experience with cash handling or general clerical duties. Must have demonstrated firearms handling experience and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record

Wage:                  In lieu of wages, the Fair Board will provide housing and utilities.

Responsibilities
Responsible for unlocking buildings scheduled for use, and act as a watchman during non-operating hours
Responsible for locking all buildings and ground gates when not in use
Ensure all facilities are clean and operable after use
May be required to do some grounds maintenance, such as mowing and cleanup in summer months, and shoveling of walks in winter
In lieu of wages, the Fair Board will provide housing and utilities.
Must have general repair and maintenance knowledge, and valid Wyoming Driver’s license
All Laramie County Fair Building are non-smoking
A drug, background, and credit check may be done before employment starts.

Deputy Sheriff in the Detention Division:

  1. Entry level and lateral transfer opportunities. Lateral transfers may be eligible to start at a higher salary due to certification and training documentation.
  2. Minimum of 21 years of age and able to meet the requirements of Wyoming Peace Officer’s Standards and Training (POST) and the State of Wyoming for certification as a Detention Deputy. Includes no felony convictions, no misdemeanor conviction for domestic violence, and a safe driving record as determined by County Risk Management policies.
  3. Able to read and speak clearly in the English language
  4. Initial screening includes the Wyoming POST General Knowledge Test and the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy physical fitness assessment. These may be waived for those individuals who are already Wyoming certified as Detention Officers or “challengeable” through POST by certification in another State.
  5. Opportunity to lateral transfer to the Patrol Division (through a competitive process) after two years of service.

           Deputy Sheriff in the Patrol Division:

  1. Must, at a minimum, be certified in Wyoming as a Peace Officer, or, eligible to “challenge”  Certification (as determined by Wyoming Peace Officer’s Standards and Training {POST}) in Wyoming thru certification in another state as a Peace Officer
  2. Salary may be determined by certification, experience, and documented training. State law  enforcement retirement, annual performance based bonus opportunity, and a flexible health  care package among other benefits. Patrol Deputies have take home cars once they  complete the FTO Program (and providing they live within Laramie County).
  3. Must successfully complete all phases of the Department hiring process to include a formal interview, background investigation, medical/drug screen, psychological evaluation, a  polygraph, and administrative reviews.
  4. Opportunities to participate in combined Special Weapons Team or EOD, dog handler, investigations, or Combined Drug Task Force Teams as well as certified instructor in many specialties once probationary status is completed.
