Laramie County receives and makes federal, state and local grants for activities ranging from Homeland Security and Victim Services to Road Construction and Economic Development.

In the past four years, the amount of grants under county management has grown from around $1,500,000 to nearly $30,000,000.  This is mostly due to funds received from the federal Recovery Act and state County Consensus Block Grant programs.

With these dollars comes responsibility to spend the money wisely and to know and follow hundreds of pages of ever-changing federal and state rules.  The Board of Commissioners, as the policy-making and budget-setting branch of county government, is the authority under which grants are received and made by the county.

The Grants Manager is an employee of the Board of Commissioners responsible for working with the County Clerk’s Finance office and the various executive and programmatic agencies that receive grant funds through the Board of Commissioners to maximize the public benefit received through grants while minimizing risks associated with grants.

The Grants Manager also serves a more general-purpose project management role on behalf of the Board of Commissioners on projects like working with local human services agencies, developing the capital improvement plan and special election voter information efforts.
