BOARD OF HEALTH SUMMARY REPORT
December, 2011

HOME LOAN / SEPTIC PROGRAM:

New loan inspections evaluated were two (02).
Pre-Existing Loan inspections evaluated were twelve (12), a decrease in loans of one (01) for the year, compared to 2010.
Residential septic permits issued were three (03).
Commercial septic permits issued were three (03).
Repair septic permits issued were two (02), an increase of thirty-one (31) for the year, compared to 2010.
Septic inspections were twelve (12), an increase of sixteen (16) for the year, compared to 2010.

ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:

Plats, Subdivisions, Zone Changes and Variances Reviews:
Staff reviewed nine (09) Cheyenne and Laramie County Site Plans.

FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM:

Food Service Establishment Plan Reviews:

  • No plans were submitted in the month of December.

Food Establishments – Opening/Closing:

Openings:

  • Peaks Café II LLC – 300 E 8th Ave.
  • Mrs. T’s – 1717 House Ave.
  • Paramount Café – 1607 Capitol Ave.

Closings:

  • Little Ponderosa DC – 411 Monte Carlo
  • YMCA After School @ Alta Vista – 1514 E 16th St.
  • Colleens’s Kiddie Care too – 1820 E 17th St.
  • Terri’s Funhouse – 1420 Meadow Dr.
  • Mrs. T’s – 2503 E 18th St.
  • Piece of Cake Bakery – 459 Vandehei #100
  • Janie’s Childcare – 1714 Gettysburg

******All closings were due to a change in ownership or voluntary closures  ******

Food Service Inspections:

Food Service Regular Inspections: 53. Total inspections were 68.
Itinerant (temporary) food service permits issued: 8. Issued for the year: 453.
Itinerant Inspections: 0
Day Care Inspections: 9.
School Food Service Inspections: 0.
Bed & Breakfast Inspections: 1.

COMMUNICABLE DISEASE INVESTIGATION:

Staff investigated (3) communicable disease reported cases.

SWIMMING POOLS:

Staff inspected thirteen (13) swimming pools, spas, or similar installations in December.

PLAGUE:

No activity for the month.

MASSAGE & BODY ART:

Staff inspected (3) new body art establishments for the month of December.  Two (2) new body artists and (1) new massage therapists were licensed in the month of December.

AGENCY MEETINGS:

  • Gary Hickman attended:  BT PERT, Staff (2), City Planning, State EPI (2), City Council (2), Division Directors (2), Oil and SHD Meetings.
  • Roy Kroeger attended:  Staff (3), NEHA Board, Mayors Meeting and EPI Rounds. 
  • Beth Harris attended:  Staff (3), EPI Rounds and ERT Meeting.
  • Terri Leichtweis attended:  Staff and WEHA Board Meeting.
  • Jennifer Escobedo attended:  Staff (3) and City Meeting.
  • Amie Merwin attended:  Staff (3) and ERT Meeting.
  • Tiffany Gaertner attended:  Staff (3), WEHA and GIS Tech Meeting.

TRAINING:

  • No training was conducted in December.

STAFF DEVELOPMENT:

  • Jennifer Escobedo, Tiffany Gaertner and Roy Kroeger attended a Pesticide Certification Class.

WATER:

Approximately (94) water samples were drawn for December.  (92) were satisfactory.  (2) were unsatisfactory. 

WESTNILE VIRUS:

Annual Emergency Insect Management Grant end of year report submitted to Department of Ag on December 7, 2011.  Letter of acceptance and closeout of the grant received  January 3, 2012.

FIREWORKS:

One fireworks stand was inspected in December.
