Health Department - Immunization Clinic

The immunization programs at the Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department provide immunizations for infants, children, and traveling adults to prevent disease and death from preventable illness. For appointment or questions, call 633-4098.


Childhood and Adolescent Immunizations

Infants, children and adolescents are provided immunizations through the Vaccine for Children Program (VFC). Children from birth through 18 years of age must be a Wyoming Resident to receive vaccines.

Wyoming Minimum Immunization Requirements

Age appropriately immunized; (MMR after 1 year of age and a minimum of one HIB)

Kindergarten through 6th Grade
51 DTaP/DTP/DT (at least one dose must be administered on or after the 4th birthday)
42 Polio (at least one dose must be administered on or after 4th birthday)
23 MMR
3 Hepatitis B all students entering Kindergarten beginning in the fall of 1999
K-1st Grade in 2000
K-2nd Grade in 2001
K-3rd Grade in 2002
K-4th Grade in 2003
K-5th Grade in 2004
K-6th Grade in 2005

Other Vaccines Recommended by American Committee of Immunization Practices (ACIP): Varicella and Hepatitis A

7th Grade through 12th Grade

Footnotes:

  1. If 4th DTP dose is administered on or after 4th birthday, a 5th dose is not required.
  2. Administration of 4 doses is considered optimal. Sequential, IVP or OPV may be used, but the final dose MUST BE GIVEN ON OR AFTER THE AGE OF 4; even if this means a 5th dose. If a 3rd dose is received on or after age 4, no additional doses are required.
  3. The 1st dose on or after the 1st birthday. The 2nd dose should be given at 4-6 years of age, prior to entry into kindergarten, but may be given as early as 1 month after the 1st dose.
  4. An adolescent tetanus diphtheria booster is required for all 7th grade students who have not received a tetanus or diphtheria vaccination during the previous 5 years. Subsequently, TD boosters are recommended every 10 years.
  5. For students 7 years of age and older who were not immunized prior to the 7th birthday, a total of 3 doses of Td vaccine, 3 doses of polio vaccine, 2 does of MMR and 3 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine (if required for other students in grade of entry) are required.
  6. As of fall 2000, an optional approved 2-dose schedule for adolescents, age 11-15 is also acceptable.

Adult Immunizations

Adult Immunizations are given at City County Health Department by appointment. Call 633-4000.

Adult Immunizations Available:

  • Tetanus Diphtheria (Td) or Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis) - Monday - Friday, 10:00 am - 11:30 am
    • For clients with wounds
  • Pneumococcal - Fall Clinics or by appointment
  • Flu Clinics

International Travel Immunizations

The International Travel Immunization goal is to provide you with appropriate vaccines and education in a timely manner, to prevent diseases during and following travels.

Vaccines available are:

  • Tetanus (Td or Tdap)
  • Hepatitis B Vaccine
  • Polio
  • Yellow Fever
  • Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR)
  • Typhim
  • Hepatitis A Vaccine
  • Menignococcal
  • Pneumonia

Please call for appointment. 

Clinic hours:
2nd and 4th Friday of every month from 8:30 to 11:30 am

The nurses will update you on:

  • food precautions
  • water precautions
  • health hints
  • mosquito precautions
  • referral to private physician for prescription/medicines based on traveler’s medical status and itinerary

Important Travel Information

  • To be fully immunized before you travel, plan SIX WEEKS ahead so that you will have sufficient time to receive all appropriate vaccines.
  • Travel documents will be given so you can keep a record of your vaccines with your passport to meet that country’s requirements. Your vaccine record should also be used to keep your physician informed of your vaccine status.
  • Report any illnesses within 9 months after travel to your private physician.
