The
immunization programs at the Cheyenne-Laramie County Health
Department provide immunizations for infants, children, and
traveling adults to prevent disease and death from preventable
illness. For appointment or questions, call 633-4098.
Childhood
and Adolescent Immunizations
Infants,
children and adolescents are provided immunizations through
the Vaccine for Children Program (VFC). Children from birth
through 18 years of age must be a Wyoming Resident to receive
vaccines.

Footnotes:
- If
4th DTP dose is administered on or after 4th birthday,
a 5th dose is not required.
- Administration
of 4 doses is considered optimal. Sequential, IVP or OPV
may be used, but the final dose MUST BE GIVEN ON OR AFTER
THE AGE OF 4; even if this means a 5th dose. If a 3rd dose
is received on or after age 4, no additional doses are
required.
- The
1st dose on or after the 1st birthday. The 2nd dose should
be given at 4-6 years of age, prior to entry into kindergarten,
but may be given as early as 1 month after the 1st dose.
- An
adolescent tetanus diphtheria booster is required for all
7th grade students who have not received a tetanus or diphtheria
vaccination during the previous 5 years. Subsequently,
TD boosters are recommended every 10 years.
- For
students 7 years of age and older who were not immunized
prior to the 7th birthday, a total of 3 doses of Td vaccine,
3 doses of polio vaccine, 2 does of MMR and 3 doses of
Hepatitis B vaccine (if required for other students in
grade of entry) are required.
- As
of fall 2000, an optional approved 2-dose schedule for
adolescents, age 11-15 is also acceptable.

Travel Immunizations
The International
Travel Immunization goal is to provide you with appropriate
vaccines and education in a timely manner, to prevent diseases
during and following travels.

Important
Travel Information
- To
be fully immunized before you travel, plan SIX WEEKS ahead
so that you will have sufficient time to receive all appropriate
vaccines.
- Travel
documents will be given so you can keep a record of your
vaccines with your passport to meet that country’s
requirements. Your vaccine record should also be used to
keep your physician informed of your vaccine status.
- Report
any illnesses within 9 months after travel to your private
physician.
