Information Technology

The Information Technology Department is a centralized department that reports to the Laramie County Commissioners. We provide networking, programming and analysis services, micro and mini computer purchasing and maintenance, software purchasing and upgrades, software applications training for all County Departments and users, and miscellaneous technology consulting services to all County Departments. The IT Department is comprised of six Teams: Programming, Technical Support, GIS (Geographical Information Systems), Law Enforcement, Communications and Administration.

The Programming Team provides in-house consultation and analysis for client departments for the purpose of providing automated solutions to their information needs. This includes design, programming, and maintenance of the in-house systems determined necessary from the analysis, or making recommendations for purchasing third-party software. Client departments also receive ongoing training on the use of their installed systems.

The Technical Support Team provides in-house network and desktop support, network administration, and computer maintenance of hardware, systems management, operating systems, and standard-use software for all County Departments and acts as a backup to the Telecommunications Division.

The GIS Team houses both the GIS Coordinator for the Cheyenne and Laramie County GIS Cooperative Program and the Laramie County GIS Coordinator. This GIS Program is an award winning, regionally and nationally known Cooperative that includes many local entities. Check it out at www.clcgisc.com

The Law Enforcement Team is responsible for our Combined Law computer system. This system primarily uses New World Systems software on an I-Series computer system that allows the Sheriff's Office, Police Department, Municipal Court and EMA/911 to share the same system. This allows for the sharing of information and better communication between all offices.

The Communications Team is responsible for procurement, management, and ongoing maintenance of Telecommunications for all county buildings and electronic security of the county courthouse and other buildings.

The Administrative Services Team provides logistic support, county-wide hardware and software purchasing, product recommendations, vendor information, first level help desk support for all County Departments, and administrative support.
